Legal Assistant in Construction and Public Procurement.
I joined the Construction team in 2018. Since joining, I have assisted the team in a variety of matters, including the drafting and negotiating of construction contracts, reports for public procurement, and materials used for external training.
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2012 with a LLB degree in Law. I then spent several years working within a government department, providing legal advice and support to UK businesses. I completed my Legal Practice Course in 2018.
Under most construction contracts, the contractor takes on the ground conditions risk. However, a recent case has demonstrated that the risk can fall on the employer.
A recent case has confirmed that a professional appointment for construction will usually be a “construction contract” under the Construction Act.
